DDS is the or a leading department store in many small southern and midwestern cities, often the most upscale department store in many of them. It is not so fortunately situated in many larger cities. Its sales and margins should hold up in smaller cities. Larger cities, eg. Dallas, are more problematic.

Physical retail is ridiculous over the long term. It's inefficient and the margins are too small.

Retail down, particularly with department stores. People are looking for cheaper options for the holidays and will shop more discount than department.
