My son saved for a year for a laptop and got a lemon. They replaced a bunch of parts and still had issues. Replaced the whole thing and still just died randomly. Finally refunding his money. Google research reveals he's not alone.

Anecdotal for sure, but evidence of quality control issues?

Cash position good, well-run, not much downside anymore

Perhaps they can gain some profit on the small-margin but proliferating netbook market Dell is penetrating. Also, it looks like Dell is trying to targets Apple's profitable high end laptop sector with Adamo.

Hard to imagine a commodity PC maker gaining much traction in future months in this environment.

They are a commodity leader in a market that is now exposed to nasty trends from netbooks and margin compression. They have made some smart acquisitions. Look for them to possibly become a force in ASP market for SMB.

There's only so long you can sell cheap computers which turn into throw-aways in three years. The bubble needs to burst.

I am not impressed by their attempts to turn this company around. Corporate and consumer sales will remain very competitive so I expect dell to continue to lose market share unless they come up with something better.

No innovation left here. I would avoid. Will not be a leader in the next market run.
